Cheboygan County Community Foundation Celebrates a Strong Year of Economic Impact in 2025

The Cheboygan County Community Foundation (CCCF) is proud to reflect on a successful year of financial growth and community investment in 2025, reinforcing its mission to strengthen economic development and enhance quality of life across Cheboygan County.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and the success of key fundraising efforts, CCCF generated strong overall revenue through a combination of individual contributions and signature initiatives, including the annual Hollywood Nights fundraiser, the Keating Memorial Fund, the Passeno Scholarship Fund, and the Crib Light Fund.
These resources allowed the Foundation to reinvest directly into the community through a wide range of grants and scholarships that support education, workforce development, tourism, small business growth, and community revitalization.
In 2025, CCCF awarded more than $93,000 in grants to organizations and municipalities throughout the county. These investments supported projects such as:
- Workforce and small business development initiatives
- Tourism and trail development
- Educational and career pathway programs
- Community infrastructure and park improvements
- Scholarships for local students
Notable grants included support for North Central Michigan College’s Fast Track Program, Cheboygan Cycle Works Bike Rentals, Tap Into the Trails, multiple Chamber of Commerce initiatives, and major community projects such as the City of Cheboygan’s Crib Light restoration and Majestic River View Park improvements.
“Every dollar we receive is an investment in Cheboygan County’s future,” said John Wheaton, Executive Director of CCCF. “Through the generosity of our donors and the strength of our community partnerships, we are able to drive economic development, expand opportunity, and create lasting impact where it matters most.”
By combining philanthropic support with strategic grantmaking, CCCF continues to play a central role in attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, strengthening the workforce, and building a thriving and connected Cheboygan County.
As the Foundation looks ahead to 2026, CCCF remains committed to growing its funds, expanding its impact, and ensuring that community-driven projects continue to move Cheboygan County forward.
